Helping to Keep Kentucky Families Warm/Cool
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) was created in 1984 by Congress to provide grants to States to assist low income households with their energy expenses. With the Help of the Community Action Agencies, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services distributes the LIHEAP federal block grant to families in the Commonwealth.
If you know of someone who needs assistance paying their home energy bills, or if you are in need of assistance yourself, please contact the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Service by calling (800) 456-3452 or visit http://chfs.ky.gov/dcbs/dfs/liheap.htm for more information about the LIHEAP program and to find out if you qualify for assistance.
There is also a program to help low income families in need of air conditioning in the summer at the web-site above.
